    UAE inaugurates first phase of largest hospital in Yemen

    In Yemen, the first phase of the largest hospital in Shabwa Governorate was inaugurated by a delegation from the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation. Implemented under the supervision of H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, and Chairman of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, the launch of the public hospital is part of the UAE’s humanitarian initiatives aimed at alleviating the suffering of the Yemeni people, by supporting the country’s deteriorating health sector.

    UAE inaugurates first phase of largest hospital in YemenShabwa is the third largest governorate in Yemen, comprising 17 districts. Shabwa Governor Awadh bin Al Wazir Al Awlaqi and several senior officials attended the inauguration. According to an official from the foundation, the UAE’s humanitarian and development projects have supported the process of comprehensive development. They have also improved the quality of life for people around the world, especially in the healthcare field.

    As a result of the launch of the hospital, the governorate is hoping to improve its healthcare services and facilitate access to quality healthcare services, the source added. In total, there will be 350 beds in the hospital, with the first phase including 100 beds that are fully equipped, and the second phase adding 250 beds more.

    Egypt’s central bank keeps its policy rate corridor at 19%-20% after its August meeting. Official data shows that annual urban headline inflation increased to 14.9% in July from 14.3% in June. Over the same period, core inflation, as calculated by the CBE, rose from 14.3% to 14.7%. On a month-to-month basis, both headline and core inflation stayed flat in July. The Central Bank of Egypt attributed the higher annual figures to unfavorable base effects. The urban consumer price index for Egypt is compiled by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics. This August decision marks the fourth consecutive hold after meetings in April, May, and July. The last time the CBE adjusted its policy rates was on February 12, when a 100 basis point cut was implemented. That move reduced the overnight deposit and lending rates to their current levels of 19% and 20%, respectively, with the main operation and discount rates also falling to 19.5%. Since that reduction, the committee has consistently maintained the full rate structure without change at each meeting.
