Thailand flood recovery expands as communities face widespread damage and disruption. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported that floodwaters covered 100 districts, 804 subdistricts, and 5,947 villages. Central Thailand continues to be among the most severely affected regions, with major rivers and their tributaries overflowing into communities and agricultural land. By October 12, water levels in many areas were decreasing or stable; however, officials noted rising levels in parts of Phitsanulok and Phetchaburi, where they continued to monitor conditions and assist residents. Several low-lying communities connected to major central river systems still faced flooding. Prolonged flooding has been driven by persistent heavy rains and runoff from northern Thailand. Large amounts of water have flowed into central river basins, pushing waterways beyond their banks. Earlier in October, floods affected more than 1.14 million households and 3.18 million people nationwide. The totals reported on October 12 indicated a decrease in water levels in several areas, though flooding still disrupted homes, roads, farmland, and daily travel across multiple provinces. Emergency crews continued pumping water and providing support to communities where drainage remained slow. Recovery efforts increase as floodwaters recede.
