    Egypt and Al Dahra launch US$500 million wheat supply plan

    EL ALAMEIN, EGYPT / RankWire.AI / – Al Dahra Agriculture Trading and Egypt’s General Authority for Supply Commodities have activated a five-year wheat supply agreement worth up to US$500 million. The pact moves a 2023 financing framework into an operational import arrangement for Egypt. Al Dahra will supply imported wheat to GASC through financing from the Abu Dhabi Exports Office. The agreement establishes the mechanism for purchases under that existing program.

    Al Dahra and GASC signed the agreement at Egypt’s Cabinet of Ministers headquarters in El Alamein on Aug. 26, 2026. Egypt’s Supply and Internal Trade Minister Sherif Farouk, who also chairs GASC, attended the ceremony. Khadim Abdullah Al Darei, co-founder and managing director of Al Dahra, also attended. The announcement did not disclose wheat volumes, shipment dates, wheat origins or a pricing formula for purchases under the agreement.

    The financing structure dates to August 2023, when ADEX and Egyptian authorities established a revolving program for wheat imports. ADEX set the program at US$100 million, with annual renewals over five years and a potential total of US$500 million. Egypt’s ministries of international cooperation and finance joined GASC in that original arrangement. The 2026 supply agreement now provides the operating framework for GASC purchases from Al Dahra under the financing program.

    2023 financing framework moves into operation

    ADEX is the export-financing arm of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development and provides financing linked to purchases from Emirati exporters. The office said in 2023 that its Egypt facility would finance wheat and other essential commodities supplied through Al Dahra. The financing program created a five-year structure for those transactions with GASC. The latest agreement keeps that structure in place while establishing the operational terms for Al Dahra’s imported wheat supplies.

    Al Dahra has operated in Egypt since 2007 and maintains agricultural operations in Toshka and East Oweinat. The company said in 2023 that it farmed about 28,000 hectares in the country. It also reported supplying more than 180,000 tons of wheat to the Egyptian government during the previous three years. Al Dahra said this week that its broader agricultural platform now serves more than 40 markets around the world.

    Al Dahra’s Egypt operations date to 2007

    The August 2026 agreement covers imported wheat, while Al Dahra also produces agricultural commodities within Egypt. In 2023, the company described itself as Egypt’s largest private-sector producer of wheat and corn. It said about 85% of output from its Egyptian farms entered the local market at that time. The new agreement concerns imported wheat supplied to GASC through the ADEX program rather than a separately announced US$500 million financing package.

    The five-year pact implements the financing framework announced three years earlier instead of creating a second US$500 million facility. Al Dahra and GASC have not announced the total wheat tonnage covered by the agreement. They also have not published an annual shipment schedule, supplier-origin breakdown or transaction pricing formula. As of Aug. 27, 2026, the confirmed arrangement remains a five-year wheat supply program worth up to US$500 million under ADEX financing.
