During its Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event held in London, Samsung Electronics revealed its eighth-generation foldable smartphone lineup, including the Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, and Galaxy Z Flip8. The South Korean tech giant introduced refreshed designs, enhanced camera systems, and integrated AI features across all three devices. Notably, this launch marks the first appearance of an Ultra class within the company’s foldable series, featuring an ultra-slim profile measuring 4.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighing 215 grams for enterprise-oriented users.

The standard Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 showcases a newly designed form factor that weighs only 201 grams, making it the lightest book-style foldable in Samsung’s product history. Its display setup includes a cover screen with a 10:16 aspect ratio and a main display with a 4:3 aspect ratio, optimized for various content types such as browsing, reading, or watching videos. Both screens utilize Dynamic AMOLED 2X technology with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and reach up to 3,000 nits peak brightness under Vision Booster technology. Powering the device is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy complemented by a 4,800 mAh battery.

To enhance structural durability while minimizing thickness, Samsung developed its proprietary Flex Titanium display framework for its premium foldables. This architecture integrates a titanium-alloy film with an underlying titanium support plate that absorbs impact forces, disperses mechanical tension, and reduces visible creasing over repeated folding cycles. Adjustments were made to hinge balance, magnetic force, and display tension to ensure smoother mechanical opening. For outdoor usage, the device features a low-reflection finish engineered to preserve color vibrancy under bright ambient conditions.

Enhanced Hardware Features and Productivity Tools

The top-tier Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra increases screen space by incorporating an 8.0-inch QXGA+ main display along with a 6.5-inch cover screen. Crafted for intensive multitasking and media production tasks, this model includes a 200-megapixel primary camera with High Dynamic Range support, along with additional sensors—a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 10-megapixel telephoto module. It also supports professional-grade mobile video recording in 8K resolution using the APV codec alongside Cine LUT color management tools suitable for professional video editing workflows.

Inside the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra lies advanced hardware such as an expanded graphite cooling system designed to boost heat dissipation during demanding computational sessions. It is powered by a dual-cell 5,000 mAh battery paired with a fast-charging system capable of delivering up to 45W through two charging paths—optimizing current distribution across both cells. Performance options include configurations with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of internal storage running on One UI 9 based on Android 17.

Software Integration and Market Launch Strategy

Alongside these larger foldable models, Samsung unveiled the compact Galaxy Z Flip8—a clamshell device measuring just 6.1 millimeters when unfolded and weighing only180 grams. It features a compact AMOLED cover display measuring 4.1 inches alongside a main display of six9 inches size; its camera setup includes a primary sensor of50 megapixels coupled with a battery capacity of4300 mAh. All three models incorporate AI-driven software tools co-developed with Google—including Gemini Intelligence,
    Now Brief,
and Now Nudge—that automate background workflows, assist in summarizing complex documents,
    and streamline app navigation processes.

The global rollout begins immediately after pre-orders open following the Unpacked event,
with retail deliveries scheduled for August7,
    2026.
    Pricing starts at $1,
    899.
    99 for the basic Galaxy Z Fold8
while pricing for the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra
and Galaxy Z Flip8 varies according to regional markets due to updated hardware configurations.
This strategic launch emphasizes Samsung’s goal of expanding foldable device adoption across both high-end consumer segments and enterprise mobility worldwide.
